As president
of Carolina Aircraft, Inc., George Johnson brings over 31
years of aircraft sales experience to the company. George
sold New and Used Beechcraft airplanes for Air Service, Inc.
from 1977 until 1991. In 1991 George left Air Service to
start Carolina Aircraft, Inc. By 2000 Carolina Aircraft,
Inc. delivered a total of 52 aircraft worth approximately 37
million dollars. In 2002 Carolina Aircraft, Inc. was divided
into two separate companies Carolina Aircraft, Inc. and
Carolina Corporate Jets, Inc. to give Tony Ryan a key
employee a chance to have ownership in a company and the
responsibility for Sales of Turbine and Jet Aircraft as
President of Carolina Corporate Jets, Inc.
Carolina
Aircraft, Inc., NexGA Aircraft, Inc. and Liberty Aircraft,
USA have just moved into a brand new “state of the art”
Sales and Service Center on the Piedmont Triad International
Airport – Greensboro, NC (GSO).
In 1996 George
expanded into the FBO business with a partner and took over
the FBO for the Salisbury / Rowan County Airport. While
attending Catawba College, George ran the line service at
this airport in the evenings and on some weekends. In
January 2001 George and his partner, Dick Keffer, sold
controlling interest in the FBO to another partner, Star
Aircraft, LLC. to allow him to concentrate on his aircraft
sales business. George still owns a large portion of the
company and remains on the Board of Directors and as a Vice
President.
While with Air
Service, Inc. George was one of the top New Beechcraft
salesmen in the country. He earned numerous achievement
awards such as: Salesman of the Year - 1984 (most new
Beechcraft airplanes sold), 1987 (most new Beechcraft King
Airs sold) and in 1986 (most new Beechcraft Bonanzas sold).
For ten years in a row George qualified as a Beechcraft
“Blue-chip Award” salesman.
George was one
of the first salesman honored by Olive Ann Beech as a
“Professional Bonanza Salesman”. George has a "Special Love"
for Beechcraft Bonanzas and Barons. He is known worldwide as
"The Bonanza Man" for his expertise in this market. If you
plan to buy or sell a late model Bonanza or Baron, George is
the man to call.
George holds a
World and US Speed Record he set in 1985 flying a Beechcraft
Baron 58. He has over 5000 flight hours mostly demonstrating
Beechcraft airplanes. George has attended factory schools on
the Beechjet, Starship I, King Air C90A, King Air 200, King
Air 300, Baron 58P and Bonanza B36TC, Columbia 300, 350 and
400.
He earned his
BA from Catawba College-Salisbury, NC and his MBA from the
University of North Carolina - Greensboro. George serves as
a part-time Adjunct Professor of Management at the Ketner
School of Business – Catawba College. He is on the Business
Advisory Board for the Ketner School of Business.
George is also
president of Carolina Aircraft Leasing, Inc., an aircraft
financing and leasing company. He served as Manager of
Columbia Atlantic, LLC., and Columbia Southeast, LLC. and is
Manager of Performance Aircraft Services, LLC.
George
recently retired from the Board of the Catawba College
Alumni Association and is on the Aviation Advisory Board for
Guilford Technical Institute.
